Apogee Stadium, on the campus of the University of North Texas in Denton, is the first LEED Platinum
collegiate football stadium in the world. The 31,000-seat stadium opened in 2011 and features various forms
of environmental innovation, while providing a top-notch venue for Mean Green football games. An integral
component of the LEED Platinum certification was the incorporation of three community-scale wind turbines
that provide wind energy to the stadium when in use, delivering about 450,000-kilowatt hours per year for
