The future of medicine
shines bright in North Texas.
As the region’s premier academic, research,
and clinical care institution, UT Southwestern
Medical Center contributes to both the physical
and economic well-being of North Texas.
With over 12,000 employees and an operating budget of almost $1.86 billion, UT Southwestern is a major employer and economic
engine. Our faculty and residents provide care to nearly 90,000 hospitalized patients and oversee more than 1.9 million outpatient
visits a year.
Our renowned faculty, including five Nobel Laureates and many members of the National Academy of Sciences and Institute
of Medicine, trains more than 4,600 medical, graduate, and health professions students, plus residents and postdoctoral fellows
each year. Currently, there are some 3,500 research projects under way, fueled by more than $418 million a year in external funding.
Coming in 2014 is the state-of-the-art UT Southwestern William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital – a remarkable facility designed
around the needs of patients and their families. Making the future of medicine in North Texas even brighter.
