VOLUNTEERS
“I have had to use a food bank when I was out of work.
— ‘Because I have been given much, I too, must give.’ —
It was a joy to help out, but it hardly pays back the debt
I owe to those who helped me in my time of need.”
- Walter Lowe, NTFB Volunteer
NTFB is fueled by the efforts of our volunteers. Alongside more than
34,000 volunteers, NTFB was able to distribute some 70 million
meals to our neighbors in need in FY16.
Dedicated volunteers helped:
• Sort and pack nutritious foods at our distribution center
• Deliver fresh produce and shelf stable items to participating
seniors in the nourishing neighbors program
• Harvest produce at NTFB partner gardens to provide to Partner
Agencies
• Shop with clients and stock the shelves at NTFB’s Our Community
Pantry
• Execute successful NTFB events such as Empty Bowls. HARVEST
and Taste of the NFL
• Helping bag food at one of our Mobile Pantry locations across
North Texas.
Every year, generous volunteers help collect
canned foods at the State Fair of Texas.
