A Tale of Two Cities. The Global Financial Crisis
of 2007/8 (GFC) continues to resonate around the
world and is impacting on both the federal and
local political scenes as our economy starts to cool
after the insulation that the “mining boom” of the
early 2000s provided starts to be torn away.
The best of times?
Sworn members of NT Police have enjoyed significant
increases to terms and conditions of employment over
the past two decades, including significant wage growth
since the start of the GFC – nominally identified as 9
August 2007.
Taking as a guide the salary of a Senior Constable (top
increment), has increased from $67,017.00 per annum
to the current salary point of $80,899.00. The 20 per
cent Consolidated Allowance paid to all sworn members
