Photo: Maningrida School students, CDU course trainer and Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation nursery manager Advancing Towards a Career as Environmental Custodians Seven Maningrida School students moved closer to a career as Djelk Rangers after completing Certificate I, Conservation and Land Management, a significant achievement for the students and the school. The Learning on Country program is a partnership between Maningrida School and the Djelk Bawinanga Rangers. It develops the knowledge, skills and confidence of students interested in a career as an Aboriginal ranger. There is a theory component to the course, and students are also expected to learn practical aspects such as occupational health and safety, basic machinery operation and maintenance, nursery tasks, basic chemical safety practices, and natural area conservation work.
