SHIELD-E GATOR BOCCE

Age : 16 and Up Min / Max : 6 / 12 Location : Northbrook Leisure Center
Come try your hand at bocce ! Gator Bocce is for athletes of all skill and experience levels ! Gator athletes will learn the rules of bocce as well as different strategies that can be applied during competition . During the first week of program , new athletes will go through a Skills Assessment Test to determine participation in the program for the remainder of the season , as well as to gain eligibility for Special Olympics Illinois competitions . Each week , athletes will work on skill development and practice in preparation for Special Olympics competitions throughout the season .

Mark your calendars for the Special Olympics District Bocce Qualifier ( date TBD ), and if you qualify , get ready for the Special Olympics Summer Games in June 2024 !

Enhance upper extremity gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination through throwing the ball .

Improve problem solving and decision making skills through competitions .
