SPICE
Special People's Ice Skating Experience (SPICE) is NSSRA's longest running program. This program will offer participants a flexible ice skating experience.
A skating coach will work with the group to develop and improve skating skills. Volunteer skating buddies will work alongside the skaters to increase
social interaction and instruction. A waiver will be sent prior to program and must be returned to the NSSRA office by Friday, December 27.
Participants can register for Ice-Skateers OR SPICE. No program January 25.
Goals: Improve motor skills. Increase basic knowledge of ice skating. Improve endurance and balance on ice. Increase social interaction among peers.

SPICE Buddies
NSSRA is looking for volunteers ages 12 - 21 ready to share in the fun and excitement of ice skating! As a SPICE Buddy, you will be paired with a participant
with special needs to increase the social experience and assist with skating instruction. Space is limited so register early! While there is no fee for SPICE
Buddies, you must register through NSSRA using the code below. Buddies can register to be an Ice-Skateer Buddy OR a SPICE buddy. No program
January 25.
SPICE Buddies will meet on Saturday, January 4 at the Northbrook Sports Center from 9:00 - 9:30 am for orientation.
SPICE Buddies will only be expected to participate in Northbrook-On-Ice rehearsals and performances if the participant they have been
paired with registers for the show. For specific dates, see Northbrook-On-Ice, listed below. NSSRA will contact Buddies regarding participation
at the end of the season.

This program will offer participants an experience to learn an ice skating routine to perform during the Northbrook-On-
Ice shows. A skating coach will work with the group to develop and improve skating skills. Volunteer skating buddies
will work alongside the skaters to increase social interaction and instruction. In order to register for Northbrook-
On-Ice, participants must have participated in SPICE during the winter season. Participants enrolled in
Northbrook-On-Ice will be responsible for attending all rehearsals and paying a costume fee. Additional
paperwork will be sent upon registration.
Goals: Improve motor skills. Improve endurance and balance on ice. Gain confidence preforming during the ice show.
Improve memory focused on choreography. Increase social interaction among peers.
