Rain Comes to Play, Party Carries On at NSSRA's
10th Annual Summer Bash Celebration
A few light showers couldn’t dampen the high spirits at Summer
Bash on Wednesday, August 14, the annual end-of-summer party
hosted by Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association
(NSSRA). Held this year at Park Center in Glenview, participants,
families and supporters soaked up every bit of fun and sunshine,
even staying to dance through sunset, before heading home.
“Summer Bash is one of my favorite evenings every year,” said
NSSRA Executive Director Craig Culp. “This year we got some
sunshine, a little rain, and thankfully clear skies to finish the
night. Even with the weather, we still had a great time.”
Nearly 350 people gathered on the green behind Park Center for
food, live music from band Recycle the Day and one last ‘bash’
together to mark summer’s end. Attendees also enjoyed playing
lawn games, balloon art by Jensen Entertainment and creative
face painting from artist Amy Lee.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t seem to shake some rain again this
year, but that didn’t stop everyone from celebrating together,”
commented NSSRA Recreation Specialist Abby Whalen. “There
were tons of smiles, and the music, food, entertainment and
enthusiasm from our community made the night magical,” she
concluded.
