Adult Programs Paint & Sip (New!) Attention artists! We are introducing a brand new art program for adults who want to have fun creating with their friends! Each week, we will socialize with a seasonal beverage followed by guided painting instruction. With step-by-step instruction, participants will create a new art piece each week. By the final day of program, we'll have a portfolio full of artwork to showcase! Family members and friends are invited to come enjoy the Paint & Sip Art Extravaganza on Wednesday, February 27! Goals: Learn basic painting skills. Improve ability to follow step by step instructions. Increase social engagement with peers through common interest of art making. Develop self-expression through a visual medium. Equestrian Connection is a one-of-a-kind stable that provides therapeutic horseback riding specifically designed for individuals with special needs. Participants will work to gain strength, flexibility and balance through riding. Each participant will learn how to ride, groom, saddle and tack a horse. During the program, the group will also be engaged in other horse-related activities and a snack will be provided each week. A waiver will be sent prior to program and must be returned to the NSSRA office by Friday, December 28. Note: As a safety precaution for all, participants over 250 pounds will do ground work with horses instead of riding. Participants with physical and medical conditions, please use caution. No program January 24. Goals: Increase flexibility and range of motion while on the horse. Gain self-confidence and a sense of control through stable skills. Develop companionship with the horse and a sense of responsibility. Participants will gain appreciation for a variety of music styles while learning new songs and singing old favorites. Participants will also learn music etiquette and performance skills while experiencing being in a show choir. The group will also practice short dance routines for each song. There will be a final performance on the last day of program, and family members and friends are invited to come enjoy the show! No program January 24. Goals: Improve vocal skills and ability to follow directions. Enhance memory of song lyrics and music theory. Increase exposure to a variety of movement and musical genres. Develop confidence through performance.
