program will assist each participant in a successful workout. Note: This program is not competitive.
Goals: Increase knowledge of fitness machines. Maintain a personal fitness log. Increase strength and endurance.

Gator Bocce
Come try your hand at bocce! Gator Bocce is for athletes of all skill and experience levels. Gator athletes will learn the
rules of bocce as well as different strategies that can be applied during competition. Note: During the first week,
athletes will take a Skills Assessment Test to gain eligibility for Special Olympics Illinois competitions. All
Gator athletes must have a current Special Olympics Medical Application for Participation on file to compete in bocce. No program August 20,
September 3 and September 10.
Save the dates! The Special Olympics district bocce competition is Sunday, October 14, and for those who qualify, the Special Olympics Illinois State
Summer Games are in June 2019.
Goals: Enhance upper extremity gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination through throwing the ball. Enhance attention and concentration by targeting a
point. Learn bocce rules and skills. Improve problem solving and decision making skills through competitions.

Gator Volleyball
Gator athletes will learn the rules of volleyball, develop skills, practice and play in competitions. Gator athletics
emphasizes sportsmanship, fundamentals and rules of the game. The first few weeks will consist of practicing and
conditioning.
Note: During the first week, athletes will take a Skills Assessment Test to determine participation in the program for the season, as well as
to gain eligibility for Special Olympics Illinois competitions. For the remainder of the season, weekly games will be played at both home
and away locations. In addition, athletes will compete in both Special Olympics (S.O.) and ITRS tournaments. All athletes must have a
current Special Olympics Medical Application for Participation on file. Game locations and transportation times will vary. A schedule will be
distributed at the beginning of the season. No program August 14, August 21 and September 18.
Save the dates! The ITRS Volleyball Tournament is Sunday, October 7. The Special Olympics Area Qualifier is Sunday, September 23 and for those who
qualify, the Special Olympics State Fall Games are Saturday, October 27 - Sunday, October 28.
Goals: Enhance teamwork skills through practice and competitions. Enhance knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques and etiquette. Increase range of
motion and physical conditioning.
