Favorite memory working with NSSRA?
I was working as an Inclusion Companion and my participant successfully passed his swim
test! My participant practiced his swimming skills almost every day and was determined
to pass the test by the end of the summer. The moment he finally passed was so sweet. We
were both literally jumping for joy! (I may have even cried some happy tears).

My favorite memories with NSSRA are simply having fun. As cliché as that sounds, I am
swimming at the pool, jumping off the high dive, having spontaneous dance parties, running
in relay races, and competing in kickball games. Unlike my friends who are sitting in cubicles
all day staring at computers, I am always having fun and smiling. - Hannah, 5 years
What advice would you have for someone who’s just
joined #teamnssra?
Be open and prepared to learn - every participant is different. If you are receptive, your
eyes will be opened and your interactions will become very natural. - Kim, 2 years
Don’t be tentative; jump right in and enjoy the experience. There will
be challenges, but if you roll with them and keep the right perspective,
you’ll enjoy yourself. - Bob, 5 years
What has this
job taught
you?
Compassion.

What's challenging
about your job?
Many of our participants
have their own unique
way of communicating
and interacting with
their environment and
the people in it. It can be a challenge to
connect with them on their own terms,
but it's a very cool feeling when you
make that connection. - Peter, 1 year
