Gator Athletics Gator Golf Gator Golf is designed for athletes who are interested in developing skills to compete in a 3, 6 or 9 hole golf tournament. During the first week of program, athletes will go through a Skills Assessment Test to determine participation in the program for the remainder of the season, as well as to gain eligibility for Special Olympics Illinois competitions. Each week, athletes will either work on skill development or practice in preparation for the Special Olympics competition in August. Please note that on select nights, athletes who are eligible to compete in Special Olympics Illinois competitions will be given tee times at 5:45 pm or 5:54 pm to complete scorecards for competition. Those competitive athletes can expect to play until approximately 8:30 pm. All athletes must have a current Special Olympics Medical Application for Participation on file. Save the dates! The Special Olympics Illinois 3/6/9 Hole Qualifier Tournament will be held on Monday, August 3 and for those who qualify, the Special Olympics Illinois State Outdoor Sports Fest Tournament is Saturday, September 12 - Sunday, September 13. Goals: Develop golf skills through practice and competitions. Enhance knowledge of golf rules, techniques and etiquette. Increase range of motion. Athletes will focus on techniques to improve their bowling skills for competition. During the first week of program, athletes will go through a Skills Assessment Test to determine participation in the program for the remainder of the season, as well as to gain eligibility for Special Olympics Illinois competitions. Athletes must have a current Special Olympics Medical Application for Participation on file. Athletes enrolled for the spring Gator Bowling season are expected to compete in the Special Olympics Regional bowling competition on Saturday, May 30. Athletes must register for competition by completing registration forms sent home prior to the summer Gator Bowling season. Fees include two games of bowling and shoe rental. No program April 8. Goals: Improve competitive skills such as aim, ball stance and approach. Increase bowling average.
