NSSRA Gym Night Are you looking for a night out with your friends? Come check out Gym Night! Every week, we will head to the gym where we will enjoy a pick-up game of the group's choice. When we are done, we will head out to grab a bite to eat. All sports played will be team sports and will be decided by the group the week before. Please wear athletic clothes and gym shoes, and bring $10 - $15 for dinner. No program April 8. Goals: Improve social interaction and teamwork skills. Learn new leisure skills. Join us at Recreation Center of Highland Park to take a dip in the pool with friends. We will play a variety of water games and group exercises each week that incorporate physical activity, social games and free swim time. Pool time is approximately from 4:05 - 4:45 pm. Please come dressed in a labeled swimsuit and bring a towel with a change of clothes. A snack will be provided after swimming. No program April 9. Goals: Increase social interaction and cooperation. Enhance confidence in the water. Improve gross motor skills and physical fitness through water play. Equestrian Connection is a one-of-a-kind stable that provides therapeutic horseback riding opportunities specifically designed for individuals with special needs. Participants will have three rotations during the program; riding, groundwork and craft with a snack. During groundwork, participants will learn and practice grooming techniques. Please note that riding time is 20 minutes each week. A waiver will be sent prior to program and must be returned to the NSSRA office by Friday, March 20. Please note that this program will begin one week late on Thursday, April 2. As a safety precaution for all, participants over 250 pounds will do groundwork with horses instead of riding. Participants with physical and medical conditions, please use caution. No program April 9. Goals: Increase flexibility and range of motion while on the horse. Gain self-confidence and a sense of control through stable skills. Develop companionship with the horse and a sense of responsibility.
