Fall 2018 Foundation Report
Events
Nielsen USTA Pro Tennis
Championship
Much to our delight, NSSRA was
once again selected as the charitable recipient of the net
proceeds from this prominent local tournament attracting
some of the world’s best tennis players. NSSRA Gator
Athletes also had the pleasure of participating in a tennis
exhibition and singing the National Anthem prior to the
commencement of matches on Monday, July 9. We are
deeply grateful to have received more than $175,000 over
the last ten years from the Nielsen Pro Championship, held
in Winnetka for programs and services benefiting people
with disabilities!
SWING Golf Outing
SWING is right around the corner!
Be sure to check out page 56 to
the left, or www.nssrafoundation.
org/swing for registration and
sponsorship information. Funds raised through the SWING
Golf Outing create opportunities for NSSRA participants,
providing scholarships for children, teens and adults
with disabilities who participate in NSSRA’s year-round
recreation activities and assisting NSSRA in purchasing
accessible vehicles. In 2017 NSSRA Foundation provided
267 scholarships to participants, and NSSRA’s buses provide
participants with over 15,000 rides annually.
NSSRA Foundation
Grants
NSSRA Foundation is very fortunate to receive generous grants from a variety
of community groups and foundations in support of NSSRA programs and
services. 2018 grants received include:
Kenilworth United Fund: $10,000 for scholarships*
Northfield Township: $4,500 for scholarships*
West Deerfield Township: $2,000 for scholarships*
Rotary Club of Northbrook: $500 for scholarships*
Northbrook Woman's Club: $1,000 for scholarships*
Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park: $10,000 towards the purchase
of two Rifton Trams**
*These funds will be used to provide scholarships and fee assistance to our
participants and families that are unable to afford program fees. NSSRA
strongly believes that no participant should be denied access to NSSRA
programs and services due to financial constraints. Thank you, Kenilworth
United Fund, Northfield Township, West Deerfield Township, Rotary Club
of Northbrook and Northbrook Woman's Club for helping us ensure that
everyone has the chance to play!
**A Rifton TRAM is a transfer and mobility device that will assist staff in lifting
and transferring participants. Thank you to Healthcare Foundation of Highland
Park, along with grants from PDRMA ($2,500), Rotary Club of Northbrook
($1,000) and Glenview Women's Club ($500) in 2017, for making it possible
for us to purchase two Rifton TRAMs, one for the ELA Program and one for
general program use. These will be a great asset to both the ELA and NSSRA
teams!
Thank you for your support!
