On Par
Kranji Hole # 4 In the previous article , I wrote about not playing particularly well on long dog-leg left Par 4 . So for a short dog-leg right Par 4 , the outcome should be the opposite .
At 251m from the Blue tees , this is a drivable Par 4 for some golfers . When I was younger and hitting longer , I did drive the green once , and missed the eagle putt , but did 2-putt for birdie .
If one can reach the green ( or hit 220m and beyond ) with the tee shot , please remember to let the front flight clear the green before hitting .
A more conventional way of scoring on this hole would be to hit the drive over the bunker in the middle of the fairway , leaving about a short approach of about 60m . Even with a shorter club off the tee , as long as one crosses the bunker , the approach should be less than 100m .
The green is slightly upward sloping when approaching from the center of the fairway , providing a bit of backstopping buffer for attacking pins . Approach shots that are too long will bring bunkers at the back left into play . Misses to the right end up on the steep slopes leading to the wetland , so try to avoid the right as much as possible .
The green isn ' t a very large green , so two putts for par should be doable . Golf is easy ( when writing about it ).
