The Editor Speaks

Dear Members

Yes , I know . It ’ s been with us for the better part of this year . And it does not look like it ’ s going to go away any time soon . Covid-19 has greatly impacted our life at home and at work . Also , of course , the way we socialise or do sport , including what we can and cannot do at the Club .
The articles featured in this issue of RV that we highlight here tell a typical story . Club activities that have been adapted to comply with the restrictions of Covid-19 . Which , if you think about it , is really the key ! With some flexibility and lots of creativity , many of the activities can actually continue in one form or another .
Take for instance the collaboration that NSRCC had with the Singapore Bowling Federation to organise a Virtual Bowling Tournament . It was an unqualified success and our youth bowlers share their experiences after participating in this unique event . Similarly , enthusiastic fans took over the Sky Bistro and Passion Cafe to enjoy a modified version of Oktoberfest with their favourite bottles of beer intact !
Even our cover story on someone who has achieved a remarkable string of three Holes-in-One has a Covid-19 angle to it . Mr Joseph Ho Soon Thong , who modestly attributes his feat to luck , scored one of them at Changi Hole 12 . This was right after the Circuit Breaker which kept him away from his favourite game for a few months . For the rest of us still chasing the elusive Holein-One , I guess mastering the Fundamentals of Putting - as advocated by the Golfing Lab - may be the easier way of ensuring that the ball gets into the hole !
One final point that is related to Covid-19 . The pandemic is known to stress those working from home and induce binge eating amongst some . We have an article that may be of help as it discusses the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and eating healthily .
Regards ,
