Seen & Heard
Cheah Ray Zen –“ For the tournament, I booked the lanes during non-peak hours. As I was having my school break, I took advantage of my flexible schedule.
Personally, coming back from a 7-month hiatus from bowling was not easy but I had a consistent training schedule with Coach Derek and we worked on building a strong foundation. The way I see it, it’ s what separates you from the pack; those with a strong foundation have a better footing to further improve their game.”
Lim Wan Ling –“ The safe management measures have allowed me to concentrate more when I train, since I mostly train alone or with my academy. When training in groups, certain coaches are assigned to specific groups, allowing the coaches to focus more on the smaller group of five people, hence helping me improve my bowling skills.”
Lim Kai Jie –“ I usually train with the team or by myself. As the new rules restrict the number of people per lane, it makes it a lot easier to focus on my training. Although it feels different, especially for the tournament where the bustle from the crowd is missing, it does not really take away the essence of training and tournaments, so it is easy to adapt to these changes.”
Jovan Chua –“ Although training was greatly reduced due to this pandemic, I still try to get as much practice as I can. Although I’ m still allowed to train at NSRCC, I also do bowling-related exercises at home so that I do not have to go out as much. Wearing the mask to bowl is a little uncomfortable, but I think it is something we have to get used to.”
