Front Page Story By Brian Tan, NSRCC Member F rom the tee box, one gets a clear view of the reservoir that NSRCC Kranji skirts around and the ever growing skyline of Johor Bahru. One also has a view of what is effectively an island green mostly guarded by water all around and deep bunkers in the front, left, right and behind. Although most tee shots require not much more than a wedge, accuracy is essential. Island greens have no safe play or alternative route. You have to be on the green – that’s it. ends up in the collection area, it is a steep uphill putt to either plateau. The hole tends to not be placed at the bottom of the collection area, otherwise there would be a disproportionate amount of hole-in-ones. If one has to putt from one plateau to another, speed control is essential to make it up over the steep slope of the collection area to the other plateau.
