SIEW KAM ONN
For Mr Siew Kam Onn , some of his fondest memories throughout the decades of being an NSRCC member revolve around his family and close friends . “ I remember staying in the bungalow with a couple from England . We played a round of golf the following day before flying off together for a golfing trip . I also enjoy weekend outings with my grandchildren at the swimming pool and kids play area .”
Nowadays , Mr Siew who is a retired accountant , spends time golfing with his wife . “ My favourite hole is currently Hole # 5 at Kranji . Although it is short , I need to be accurate as there are hazards all around the green . It is very challenging .”
When asked what keeps him loyal to NSRCC , Mr Siew said , “ It is a well-run club with beautiful and challenging golf courses . The staff are well-trained and their responses are always prompt .”
SANDY LEE
Back in 1994 , Mr Sandy Lee joined NSRCC as its membership offered “ very good value for very well-maintained courses .” “ At one time , it was a 27-hole course and a 9-hole Par 3 executive course in Changi , plus another 18-hole course in Kranji ”.
And among all those holes , Mr Lee ’ s favourite is clear . “ I vividly remember the longest Par 5 on Air Force Hole # 9 because I was a high handicapper then and I scored an unforgettable 15 strokes on that hole . But that was the hole I look forward to the most , to score better in the next game .”
However , over the years , Mr Lee , who is the director of a seafood production and trading company , has “ only played a few games a year ” at the Club . “ I am based in Indonesia , so each time I come back to Singapore , the opportunity to meet old friends while playing golf at NSRCC is a blessing . You will inadvertently play with a long-lost NS mate from bygone years ,” he reminisced .
