Did you know that there are more than 200 members who
have been with the Club since Day 1 and who continue to be part of the NSRCC family to date ? This pioneer batch of members joined NSRCC on Feb 1 , 1994 . Thus , they have been with the Club for 27 years !
NSRCC was set up to recognise the contributions of operationally ready NSmen to Total Defence . As such , our members ’ profiles feature an interesting mix of backgrounds . We caught up with five of these long-standing pioneer members , each with his own nostalgic story to share .
MICHAEL SNG
Mr Michael Sng started playing golf in 1993 – shortly before NSRCC opened its doors . An avid golfer , he became a member in February 1994 when NSRCC opened its doors . “ NSRCC gave me the opportunity to be a member of a new golf club with 27 holes at an affordable price ,” he said .
As a member who has been with the Club since its inception , Mr Sng has witnessed several of the Club ’ s milestone events . He shared , “ I have fond memories of the Ericsson Singapore Open in 1998 . NSRCC being selected to host such a major event was a recognition of its challenging course . Another fond memory was the opening of the Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course in 2004 .”
As a retiree , Mr Sng now finds joy spending time at NSRCC courses , especially Hole # 3 at Changi . “ It is a Par 5 of reasonable length and I have had the satisfaction of reaching the green in just two strokes !”
