National Society for Collegiate Scholars
January Newsletter | University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Chapter
Aloha mai kākou! Hello everyone!
‘O Chelsey ko’u inoa. No Maui
mai au. My name is Chelsey-Mei
Borge and I am from Maui. I was
inducted into NSCS in 2012. I am a
junior, upper division honors student, and am majoring in Travel
Industry Management with a hospitality emphasis and am planning to
also double major in
Hawaiian Language.
My career goal is to
become a Cultural
Director of a hotel.
I have completed an
internship with the Haleakala National Park. Currently, I work with
the Office of Admissions as a tour
guide. I have also created my own
clothing business called Hawaii
Forever. I am active in eight organizations this year, including being
the Vice President of Community
Service of our NSCS chapter, the
Vice President of the Travel Industry Management Student Association (TIMSA), and the Associated
Students of the University of Hawaii (ASUH) Senator of the School
“...keep
doing
good...”
of Travel Industry Management.
I joined NSCS because I wanted
motivation to keep doing good in
school and in the community while
being surrounded by people of the
same goal.
I am so excited for this spring semester! I hope to see you all become
active this semester! Let’s get involved
in the community together! We will
have fun community service events
such as working at Ka Papa Lo’i ‘O
Kanewai and Relay for Life. I hope
that this semester will be filled with
great memories. Study hard, but also
have fun. Balance your school work
with some social activities. I know
that being a student is hard work so
please go to the beach, watch a movie,
do something fun during your free
time. Write a NSCS newsletter story,
perhaps? Hint, hint ;) Just make sure
to make some time for yourself to
be relaxed. Do not get burnt out. If I
could leave you with some advice, that
would be it. Good luck, try your best
and best wishes for Spring 2014!
