The break from work, and an enforced break from
running had him fresh and keen to tackle the challenge.
“I had shoulder surgery and only got back [running]
in March so I had a bit of a break,” he said.
CFN Billy Howes 2RAR kept him honest, finishing
second 48 seconds behind CAPT O’Regan (30m 56s).
BDR Jeffrey Browne 4Regt RAA finished third.
CO 3CSSB LTCOL Gabrielle Follett (38m 41s)
led from the front in the women’s race comfortably
beating CPL Hayley Neville 3CSSB (38m 51s) home.
LTCOL Follett also won the 3CSSB cross
country held a few days earlier.
It was a relatively short gallop for LTCOL Follett, a
keen distance runner who trains almost every day.
LCPL Sheree O’Grady 2Cav Regt finished third.
MAJ Jason Selman HQ3Bde won the mens
masters’ division from MAJ Steve McNaughton
3CSSB and WO2 Steph McDougall ???.
WO2 Kennedy 3CSR won the womens masters’ from
LT Singleton 2CHC and MAJ Westhead 2Cav Regt.
Top points in the Commander’s Trophy competition
were bagged by 3RAR, their top 10 runners
finishing with an average time of 34m 54s, followed
by 1RAR (35m 18s) and 2Cav Regt (35m 28s).
Then followed: 4Regt RAA (37m 25s), 3CSR (37m
28s), 3CSSB (38m 9s), CMU (38m 56s), 2RAR
(39m 19s), 3CER (40m 1s) and 10FSB (40m 4s).
