W
ELCOME to the first
edition of NSCnews Online.
It’s a new concept - different to anything
you’ve read before, anything you’ve
experienced before... and we hope you like it.
We also hope you tell us what you
like, and, of course, what you don’t.
This edition is the first step, we have lots of
plans for innovative features including some
new competitions that are still being developed.
By the time you read this, our apps for
iPad, iPhone and Android devices should
have been launched, meaning you can
read the magazine anywhere, anytime.
NSCnews Online is FREE, please
pass it onto friends and family and
throughout your own network.
For those who want to get a bit more involved,
there is an opportunity to become a Member.
Membership costs just $2 per issue and
opens the door to special privileges, including
entry into regular Members’ draws (the
first one, drawn before Christmas, will be
for a 64GB Apple iPad Air 2 with WiFi).
Visit the website - nscnews.com.au to join.
The magazine will be published on the
first Thursday of each month, except
January, and Members will receive an
early, private link to the magazine at
least two days before publication day.
Members will, therefore, have a twoday headstart in the competitions
(beginning, modestly this month with
only the crossword) and since the earliest
entries will have best chance of winning,
it could be the deciding factor.
We plan to expand the competitions section of
the magazine to hopefully include an online

jigsaw competition, and a never-before-seen
puzzle with a cash prize that will increase as
entries are submitted. Members will get five
free entries each month to that competition
(non-members will pay 50c for each entry).
We welcome feedback on each and every item
in the magazine and on the magazine itself.
Use the form on this page to send
us your thoughts and suggestions.
Look for the hotspot at the end of each
story - it will provide a quick link back
to this form so you can quickly send us
feedback while it’s on your mind.
Look for the hotspots throughout the
magazine to unlock all the features
of each story, each advertisement.
We’re still exploring all the exciting
features of this format, so we see
this as a young, inquisitive child in
the world of online publishing.
Hopefully, with your help and support,
we can grow it to maturity to become an
entertaining, informative and supportive
part of the Defence community in
Townsville and North Queensland.
In a couple of weeks, a sister publication
called TAKE LEAVE – A Holiday Guide
for Defence, will also land in your inbox.
It’s exactly as the name suggests. Please
use it to plan your holiday, and, when
you do book a holiday, make sure you
tell ’em where you got the inspiration.
Please enjoy the exploration of this new
format in both magazines with us.
