OTSA will host its
Community Sleep Out
this month and it will coincide
with the launch of Veterans
Health Week in Townsville.
The event is primarily
targeted at veterans and their
families whilst also raising
awareness in the general
Townsville community of
veteran homelessness.
The free community event
will include a number of
activities including activities
that align with this year’s VHW
theme of physical activity.
Some of those activities include:
A walking challenge

Kids mini obstacle
course and jumping castle
Entertainment from
a veteran Band (DVets)
TPIs Coff ee Van
Interactive military static
displays and information booths
based on physical activity
Live interview with local
adaptive sports athletes
Keynote speakers
throughout the early evening
It will be conducted at
Strand Park on the weekend
of October 21-22.
Local ESO and community
service providers will have
information stands there to
showcase their organisation
and what they can provide for
veterans and their families.
Floss asked for people
wanting to participate in the
sleepout to register on the
website at votsa.org.au.
“The event will be capped at 250
people, so it will be closed once
we reach capacity,” Floss said.
She asked businesses or
organisations that supported
Defence or ex-Defence
personnel to contact her if
they wanted to participate.
