3Bde excels contest the international competition . The Brigade ’ s snipers also did well . The 2RAR team left a number of high profile teams in their wake to win the Billy Sing Trophy ( aggregate of 17 matches ) for ADF and international snipers and 1RAR came third behind Japan . The individual international competition included three Australians - CPL McDermott , who qualified in second place , and BDR Latham and PTE Clark . PTE Clark lost a thrilling oneon-one shootout to an Indonesian Army sergeant to finish second and CPL McDermott finished sixth . Acting COMD 3Bde COL Damian Hill was thrilled with the result that he said endorsed the decision to embrace combat shooting and combat fitness in the Brigade .
“ AASAM has evolved to reflect the way we fight , so it comes as no surprise our soldiers dominated the ADF competition ,” he said . PTE Callum Pritchett summed up the attitude of those who participated . “ Anybody who ’ s a good shot should come to AASAM at least once in their career – but make sure you do plenty of training before you get there ,” he said .
