McLachlan bade farewell to the members
of Task Group Taji-V at a special parade
at Lavarack Barracks last month.
Led by CO COL Steve D’Arcy the Tak
Group - 300 Australians from all three
services and 100 New Zealanders - will
deploy during the coming weeks to Iraq
where they will continue the training
task which commenced in March, 2015.
He thanked the families for their support.
“I know the preparation [for this
deployment] has been long and hard
for you,” MAJGEN McLachlan said.
“I know we took them away from you to
train them before we even deployed them.
“I promise you, it’s been worth it. There
have been no shortcuts or compromises
made in the preparation of this force.
“They are as best-equipped
and best-trained as we can get
them and they are ready.”
MAJGEN McLachlan asked the
wider Townsville community to
continue to support the families
during the deployment, which was, for
them, a diffi cult and stressful time.
He said the members of TG Taji-V had,
during their mission specifi c training,
faced every scenario seen during
previous rotations of this mission.
“You have come through every test
we have placed before you and you
have formed the bonds with the person
standing next to you that will get you
through the stuff we have not yet
seen,” MAJGEN McLachlan said.
