A self-confessed “ beefy ” kid , she wasn ’ t intimidated playing against adults , she was used to it . She played wing and worked hard enough to be able to handball and kick with her non-dominant left side “ well enough to get out of trouble ”.

Her family supported her , although they didn ’ t have a clue what was going on when they watched her games . “ In Darwin , my Nanna May was my biggest fan ,” Rhiannon said . “ She didn ’ t know the rules , but she stood on the sideline and critiqued my every move .”
