While the tempo of exercising will wind down slightly after Ex Hamel , there will still be much on the agenda . The inaugural NQ Women ’ s Leadership Forum will be conducted in August , and the annual Tactical Exercise Without Troops ( TEWT ) based in Charters Towers would also be conducted . The Brigade will host troops from the US Marines , the Ghurkas and the PNG Defence Force during the year , a practice BRIG Field said continued to pay benefits . He said a company of Ghurkas spent time at 2RAR in 1998 when he was a company commander . The following year he and his troops found themselves working with the same Ghurkas in East Timor , and the combination was very successful , largely because of the relationships previously established in barracks . Hosting foreign troops was always worthwhile training , he said . September will be a busy month with the Legacy Open Day and Poziere ’ s Challenge on September 2 , the Brigade ’ s Innovation Day on September 12 , Exercise Puk Puk in Papua New Guinea kicking off , and a rifle company going to Butterworth for a three month tour . Of course , overlaying all of the scheduled activities for the Brigade were the unexpected tasks that might come up for the Ready Brigade . It will be a busy year even if the RBG does not get called out . Buckle up .

THIS year , the three multi-role combat brigades in the Australian Army - 1Bde ( Darwin ), 3Bde ( Townsville ) and 7Bde ( Brisbane ) have introduced a nomenclature for their regular , scheduled Force Generation activities . The three brigadiers commanding the brigades settled on a series of names to indicate the level of each exercise , ascending in speed and ferocity - from Carbon through Walk and Run , Strike and Sprint . Each of the brigades puts its signature stamp on the exercise , so 3Bde exercises are always called Brolga , 1Bde , Predator and 7Bde Diamond . So , 3Bde ’ s Ex Brolga Strike will be 1Bde ’ s Ex Predator Strike and 7Bde ’ s Ex Diamond Strike when they conduct them in the course of Force Generation training .
