Birthday parade for 3CSSB

MEMBERS of 3CSSB capped off a busy 2016 by celebrating their 24th birthday with a regimental parade , complete with ceremonial advance and volleys . CO 3CSSB LTCOL Gabrielle Follett said the parade was important to take time to remember the unit ’ s customs and traditions . Conception of the unit was slow with a suggestion in 1990 to establish an overarching Administrative Support Battalion to bring together a number of existing second-line units : 9Transport Squadron ; 2 Field Ambulance ; 16 Field Dental Unit ; 3

Field Supply Company ; 29 Combat Supplies Platoon and 102 Field Workshops . The suggestion became a decision in July , 1991 , and 12 months later 3CSSB ’ s predecessor , the 3rd Brigade Administrative Support Battalion ( 3BASB ) was finally born . Initially , the various components of the new Battalion remained exactly where they had previously been , and , other than a new HQ to report to , nothing much changed . It wasn ’ t until June , 1996 that local MP Peter Lindsay was able to officially open the Batugade Lines where 3CSSB is now headquartered .
