At Monday ’ s ceremony for ADFA appointees , he told the five Air Force recruits , that after consultation with CO 27Sqn WGCDR Phil Godfrey ( the Senior ADF Officer at RAAF Townsville ), he recommended they read Gallipoli Air War by Hugh Dolan . The 11 Army officer cadets , he urged to read Defeat Into Victory by Field Marshall Sir William Slim . He said each book would help the young officers in training to understand their new life in Defence and to adapt .
