ACK in the early 80s, I visited
Ravenswood as a little kid with my family.
I was told it was a ghost town, as
there wasn’t a lot to look at.
I remember seeing a few houses, an old
church, a lot of spinifex and brown dust.
There were a few abandoned old builldings,
some with broken windows and there were
cattle munching on grass in the main street.
The place was old, hot, dusty and dead...
not very exciting from a kid’s point of view.
These days though, my thinking
has changed! I have since learned
Ravenswood being referred to as a ghost
town, has another meaning entirely.
That’s particularly so, seeing as the
gold mining company has been back
in town for quite some time, and the
little community is humming.
To be fair, the place is still old, hot and dusty,
