BE bold for change was the theme for International Women ’ s Day and 3Bde marked it by hearing from Townsville Fire head coach Claudia Brassard . Epitomising the first part of the theme , Claudia said she had to be particularly bold to take on the head coach role at the Fire after the team won back to back championships in the WNBL . “ We had just made our fourth Grand Final and won back-toback championships ,” she said . “ There is only one way you can go after that and it ’ s down , so was I ready for that ?” It was an intimidating step up for the assistant coach , and , to complicate matters , it was a part-time role , which meant she couldn ’ t really afford to quit her “ day time ” job as an engineer at the Townsville City Council . The council allowed her to go part-time and she was able to juggle both jobs .
