long in a war situation, he
quickly realised he could not
go back to teaching children.
So it was back to the
Army as a professional
soldier, serving in Malaysia,
Singapore, New Guinea,
attending the Malaysian
Armed Forces Staff College
in Kuala Lumpur as a
exchange student, followed
by three years at the Royal
Military College Duntroon
in Canberra as a senior
instructor, with the rank of
major, in fi eld training.
A number of today’s
lieutenant colonels and
brigadiers, including
COMD 3Bde BRIG John
Caligari, graduated while
he was at the college.
