system after the merger of Lutheran Health Systems (LHS) and Samaritan Health
System (SHS). LHS had been previously known to provide health care in rural
areas as far back 1938 across the Midwestern and Western states. SHS, which was
formed in 1911 had a notoriety for clinical experience in Arizona, especially the
Phoenix communities. Banner Health headquarters is located in Phoenix, Arizona.
