Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly communicable disease caused by mycobacterium
tuberculosis (MT). MT is a nonmoving, slow-growing, acid-fast rod bacterium that
is transmitted via the airborne route. It is the most common bacteria infection
worldwide. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but may infect any other part of
the body such as the kidney, brain, and spine. TB is transmitted via aerosolization
or airborne route. TB bacteria become active when the patients immune system
cannot stop them from growing. When this happens, it is called TB disease. Some
patients develop TB disease soon after becoming infected, other may get sick for
