Utstilling spenner i dag over tidsepoken 1902 til etter 1990. Det er ingen filosofi bak disse tidsvalg. Et museum bygger mye på hva som blir tilgjengelig av tidsminner. De eldste er en gammel Shaw med trefelger og en gammel Indian. Det som er interessant med Indian er at den har svensk opphav, og at den egentlig var laget som pace-sykkel for sykkelløp. Den skulle bare hjelpe (trå)sykelistene opp i hastighet, og så var jobben gjort. Oscar Hedstrøm fant ut at han egentlig satt på et godt konsept for personlig transport. Det er jo tydelig at dette ikke er noe mer enn en vanlig sykkel med motor. Farlig nær dagens «moderne» el-sykler.
Ellers så beveger vi oss gjennom utstillingen. Det er både kjente og ukjente motorsykler. Det er ikke lenge siden Redaktøren av YCC-Posten tok spranget fra moped til tung motorsykkel. Derfor er det nesten tårevått å bli presentert for verdens raskeste moped! Mopedløp trekker fortsatt en del publikum ellers i verden, men at denne, som står her i Magnor har passert 220 km/t på Nürburgring er imponerende. Den er her, sammen med andre drag-racere og løpsmotorsykler.
Large span of time
Today, the exhibition spans over a wide era from 1902 to after 1990. There is no philosophy behind these time choices. A museum contains a lot on what becomes available. The oldest is an old ‘Shaw’ with wooden rims and an old ‘Indian’. What is interesting about ‘Indian’ is that it has Swedish origins, and that it was actually made as a pace bike for cycling races. It was just supposed to help the participants gain speed, and then the job was done. Oscar Hedstrøm found out that he really put on a good concept for personal transport. It is obvious that this is nothing more than an ordinary bicycle with an engine. Quite close to today's "modern" electric bikes.
Otherwise, we move through the exhibition. There are both known and unknown motorcycles. It is not long since the Editor of ‘YCC-Posten’ took the leap from moped to heavy motorcycle. Therefore, it is almost tearful to be presented with the world's fastest moped! ‘Moped races’ still draw a number of audiences elsewhere in the world, but that this one, which is here in Magnor, has passed 220 km/h at the Nürburgring is impressive. It's here, along with other drag racers and racing motorcycles.
