Mindre kritisk var det at de kjøpte det gamle bygget til ‘Finnskogmøbler’ i begynnelsen av mars 2020. En uke etter at kontrakten var underskrevet stengte Norge ned i corona-pandemi. Dette var ikke noe å bry seg om, for dette ville gå over før sommeren (trodde de). Den ‘høyt ærede Finansminister’ hadde derimot en god løsning; «Legg frem regnskapet for 2019, og så ordner vi opp med oljefond-penger». «Ha, ha», sa Glenn Tjeldnes, «Skandinavisk Motorsykkel Center eksisterte ikke i 2019».
Dette ble derfor starten på en tøff tid. Kommunen har vært så greie som det var mulig. De måtte gi ut bistand til «de trengende» først, så kunne museet få sin andel av ‘smulene’. Men det hadde gått. Heldigvis hadde Glenn Tjeldnes hatt 100% arbeid ved siden av, og de hadde fått bistand fra enkelte legater og stiftelser.

This was therefore the start of a tough time. The municipality has been as decent as possible. They had to give aid to "the needy" first, then the museum could get its share of the 'crumbs'. But it had passed. Fortunately, Glenn Tjeldnes had had 100% work in addition, and they also received financial assistance from some legacies and foundations.

«Alt som kan bidra har uvurderlig verdi», legger Ole Jakob Stenseth til. Han er pensjonist og inngår i museets ‘Dugnadsgruppe’. Der er de om lag 25 stykker som stiller opp til alle tider i tillegg til de fire som ansees som faste. De har også jevnlig kontakt med NAV og får derfra inn masse hyggelige folk. «De sender oss folk som er så godt som blanke i norsk, men som bidrar verdifullt til museumsdriften. Etter endt periode har de lært seg både språk og andre ferdigheter. Slikt er ytterst trivelig både for oss, museet, de besøkende og ikke minst dem».
Gleden var derfor stor da de kunne feire åpningen i St. Hans-helgen 2021.
"Everything that can contribute has invaluable value," adds Ole Jakob Stenseth. He is retired and part of the museum's ‘voluntary work-force’. There are about 25 pieces that line up at all times in addition to the four that are considered permanent. They also have regular contact with NAV (Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) and get a lot of nice people from there. "They send us people has absolutely no experience in Norwegian, but they make a valuable contribution to the museum operations. After the end of their period, they have learned both language and other skills. This is extremely pleasant both for us, the museum, the visitors and not least them».
The enjoyment was therefore on top when they could celebrate the opening of the ‘Midsummer weekend’ in 2021.
