Petrol in Norway
There are many sticks that are wheeled in for people like us with motor interest. This is one of the reasons why a lot of information comes up about fuel and various additives. In this case, it is ethanol and gasoline. In Norway, we are talking about petrol marked with ‘E5’ and ‘E10’ with 5% and 10% ethanol addition, respectively.
From Yamaha Motor Scandinavia YCC-Posten received the following information (spring 2021):
Aging gasoline:
Ethanol is easily susceptible to degradation such as absorbing water or impurities that can cause the quality of the fuel to deteriorate, this can lead to starting problems or in the worst-case cause engine damage.
Fuel system pollution:
Ethanol is a solvent that can attack certain material compositions (rubber and plastic) in the fuel system and cause contamination of the fuel system. This contamination can cause a fuel pump, carburetor failure or injector blockage failure.
Picture: If you are unlucky, petrol -containing ethanol can lead to cracked petrol hoses with subsequent leakage. The result can be fire and a ruined season, as for the owner of this motorcycle.
