Now is the time to look ahead, but not so far. It is less than a month until we will meet at Hunderfossen for this year's biggest event in the club. International Rally 2022 in Norway for the first time. It is also the 25th international meeting in YCC history. We should be proud of that we have been given this 'anniversary event'. Haven't signed up yet?? Then it is about time. The club needs all the hands that can contribute, and this is something you as a YCC just must take part in and just feel!!
I went to my first International Rally in 2013, and then there have been a few more over time. First Finland, then England, then Holland, then Denmark and finally Germany. I was looking forward to going to Finland, but due to Covid-19, it was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021. At an International Rally, you meet people from all over the world, you make new connections, and lasting friendships are established. I also had the opportunity to go to Colombia on a 3-week motorcycle trip in 2012, and I do not regret it. Many new friends, with whom I have regular contact. They met again in 2013 and in 2015 and 2017.
After the big meeting, we will meet again at a slightly smaller rally; Tour de Tyrifjorden/ Alexandertreffet. The last weekend in June. This is a meeting under the wings of Chief Buskerud. There is a major amount of time and effort he has put into establishing this meeting. Here; those who have the opportunity should take a trip. Many new acquaintances are also made here who will last for many years. Thanks to Jørn Øverby, for all the work you do for the club. Respect.
The vast majority of us have now got the bike out. This means that we meet on two wheels, go on trips together, and have a social time. This is very good but remember that not everyone is on facebook. There are still many members who have opted out this. Then you have to provide information in other ways. Most people in the club have e-mails, so if you have something that needs to be sent out, send it to me and I will send it out. I am sitting on a group email with all members.
Then over to some serious stuff. Shall we try to get through this summer without accident? That would be great. As stated in the articles of YCC-N; § 2 "The club shall, through cooperation and camaraderie, promote a healthy motorcycle environment and good traffic safety both internally and externally." This is important for the club. We will stand together, we will help each other, and we will drive with our heads in the right place. Do not take unnecessary chances, rather let the car move forward, so that you avoid dangerous situations. Do not provoke, drive defensively. Then we get through the summer without accidents.
Then, first, we will have June the 10th 2022. We will open the 25th International Rally! We will meet our brothers and sisters from all over the world. Use this time to show everyone that Norway is a beautiful country, with many great YCCs. Let us show our hospitality, our spirit of service and our great camaraderie. Let our guests be in focus and let them dream of returning to Norway. This is the first time we're arranging the International Rally. It's a steep learning curve, but let's show that we can.
The summer holidays are also just around the corner. I register that there are more people going on trips at home and abroad. I look forward to reading and hearing about these trips afterwards. Drive beautifully, take lots of pictures, which can be shared with everyone else afterwards. GOOD TRIP and GOOD SUMMER.
