Other biodiversity projects
AS a member since 2009 of
the black-throated finch (BTF)
Recovery Team, we helped to
develop the BTF Recovery Plan,
which describes the status of the
species and identifies required
actions for its survival and
recovery.
• Erected 10.2 km of
fencing to protect
black-throated finch
habitat.
• Implemented 160ha
of fire management
t o p ro t e c t d r y
rainforest.
We continued a project
supporting four landholders in
the Townsville area to restore
512ha of BTF habitat.
We also continued a project with
local landholders to protect areas
of dry rainforest in basalt country
in the Upper Burdekin
Rangelands.
Australia’s largest area of
dry rainforest grows on
the Toomba basalt flow.
