Ottumwa Hy-Vee
Pictured is the Hy-Vee store on the south side of Ottumwa in 1960 . The store , along Albia Road , burned and was destroyed in 1974 . Today , the Southeast Iowa Mental Health Center rests on the premises .
Ottumwa Opera House
The Ottumwa Opera House , located at Main and Jefferson streets in 1935 . That building is long gone , and the Ottumwa Community School District ’ s Career Campus now rests on the site .
Ottumwa Municipal Pool
Residents go for a splash at the Ottumwa Municipal Pool in 1937 . The pool , located at Milner and Keota streets , closed in 1961 and now houses two residential buildings . The pool was located just north of what is now Douma Elementary School .
