This property , located on the corner of South Market Street and High Avenue West in Oskaloosa ’ s Main Street District , was the former site of the Mahaska County Courthouse in 1845 . In 1876 , Mahaska State Savings Bank purchased the “ old courthouse corner ” and built Oskaloosa National Bank in 1879 , pictured here in 1896 . The building has been home to multiple banks throughout the years and is now known as the Iowa Building , which is available for community events . It is one of 10 buildings included in Oskaloosa ’ s Historical Building Markers Project .
