It is conspicuous that street art has hit a dead end and lacks the ability to innovate , adapt or evolve . The leading figures of this movement have unintentionally constructed an egotistical pecking order where an artists “ revolutionary ” merit is calculated on the same theorem as a dog pissing to mark its territory .
It ’ s a movement dominated by regurgitated uninspiring murals of monochrome portraits , multicoloured parrots , Marilyn Monroe ’ s haircut , bland typography and portraits of wrestlers faces . It ’ s a never ending nightmare of the mundane with no capacity to shock , provoke or inspire . Those within the community continually reiterate how this is the most revolutionary art movement of all time and to the contrary I believe it ’ s a ridiculously presumptuous claim to make , especially considering the fact that the head of the Catholic Church has five hundred year old murals painted inside his private place of worship that are substantially more controversial than anything that ’ s ever been seen on the street .
