A FAMILY APPROACH TO NURSING CARE At The Orchards of Saxonburg , the staff ’ s mission is clear - use a holistic approach in a family-style environment to offer its residents a wide range of nursing options and provide the best care possible .
“ Our job is to make people forget they ’ re in a post-acute care center , said Scott D . Fox , the third-generation owneroperator of The Orchards company . “ One of the things we provide is a comfortable , warm and inviting atmosphere without that institutional feeling of a nursing home .”
A key event in the fulfillment of that mission was the arrival of administrator Chrisy Saula at The Orchards of Saxonburg in May . Saula began her career as a nurse ’ s aide in 1994 , later worked as a director of nursing for 10 years and has been an administrator since 2012 . She emphasizes synergy and leadership among her team , stressing its value in improving resident care .
“ My background and my nature have helped nourish the team at The Orchards ,” Saula said . “ Having engaged , refreshed people on the team helps residents ’ journey to recovery . We ’ re committed to delivering quality care to them .”
Matthew Murray , vice president of operations , sees a “ philosophical alignment ” between Saula ’ s approach as an administrator and The Orchards ’ longtime company mission .
“ The Fox family has been doing this for 60-plus years ,” Murray said . “ For them , The Orchards is a family heirloom . And that philosophy applies to residents and staff .”
“ Our family has centered its life ’ s work around caring for the elder population in the most impactful way possible ,” Fox said . “ The hometown community of Saxonburg provides the perfect backdrop in the way it embraces inclusiveness and advancement , while also sheltering and preserving its unique qualities . Saxonburg was a natural fit .”
