Police Officer Shane Figueroa was killed when his patrol car collided with a vehicle driven by a drunk driver . Officer Figueroa was northbound on 19th Avenue near Roeser Road , responding to a shots-fired call when a truck turned in front of his patrol car . The impact spun the patrol car and sent it into a block wall . Officer Figueroa had served the Phoenix Police Department for more than two years .
Officer Paul Salmon died from injuries received in an automobile accident . Officer Salmon was responding to a domestic violence call in south Phoenix . His vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Baseline Road and 31st Avenue . Officer Salmon served the Phoenix Police Department for only six months .
Officer Beuf was killed when both he and a suspect were struck by a tractor-trailer while struggling on the side of a roadway at N . 24th Avenue and W . Lone Cactus Drive .
Officer Beuf was a U . S . Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Phoenix Police Department for one year . He is survived by his wife and four children .
Officer John Robertson was shot and killed while working a uniformed off-duty security job at a local hotel . He was questioning a suspect behind the hotel at 1624 N . Black Canyon Highway about the robbery of two truck drivers when the suspect opened fire . Officer Robertson was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later . Officer Robertson had been with the agency for eight years .

Officer Hemschmeyer was killed in a traffic accident while responding to another officer ’ s call . A sedan that had pulled over for the officer ’ s emergency lights was struck from behind by a five-ton city garbage truck . The force of the collision threw the vehicle into the path of the approaching patrol car , killing officer Hemschmeyer . He served as an officer for four years .
Officer Clay Haywood was killed in a motorcycle accident when a pickup truck turned in front of him , causing a collision . Other officers rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries . Officer Haywood had served with the Phoenix Police Department for four years .
Officer Bluhm was shot and killed around 6:30 p . m . after he stopped a stolen truck behind the Bali Hi Motel at 16th Avenue & Linden Street . One of two suspects opened fire as he hid in the camper shell of the truck . Officer Bluhm was shot three times and died while attempting to radio his position . He served as an officer for 14 years and was a military veteran .
Officer Dale Stone was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to an officer down call put out when Officer Albert Bluhm was shot and killed . Officer Stone collided with another vehicle and was pinned underneath it . Officer Stone , a U . S . Marine Corps member , served with the Phoenix Police Department for two years .
K9 DAX EOW : OCTOBER 20 , 1994
K9 Dax was shot and killed while assisting the Special Assignments Unit search a home of a homicide suspect on West Carson Road .
The subject opened fire on Dax with a 12-gauge shotgun , killing him . The man was subsequently shot and killed after shooting and wounding two officers .
