◆ FIRST INDUSTRY JOB ?
Sterling Residential , in Nashville TN , as a Leasing Agent
◆ PIVOTAL MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER ?
So many to count but the one that sticks out the most is when a recruiter called me , in 2015 , about a corporate training role for a large national sustainable developer and operator . I was a seasoned Community Manager at the time who was passionate about hiring , developing , and empowering my teams . They got wind of my natural ability to train and took a chance on me . This sent me in a new trajectory in my career as an L & D expert .
◆ TV SHOW BEST DESCRIBES YOUR MANAGEMENT STYLE ?
Maybe New Girl ’ s Jessica Day . She wears glasses like me , and I am equally as enthusiastic and supportive as her character … always a glass half full kinda gal who is , quirky , loyal and creative .
◆ WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT THE MULTIFAMILY INDUSTRY ?
I don ’ t miss baking cookies or blowing up balloons . Those were the days !
◆ MOST IMPACTFUL PERSON IN YOUR CAREER ?
I have a laundry list of names such as Heather Sandoval at Weller , Carol Gardner at AMLI , and Susan Maxwell at Zocalo . They all saw something in me before I did and gave me a platform to grow and bloom in my career .
◆ FAVORITE TEAM-BUILDING ACTIVITY ?
One fun activity that surprises people is when I ask a class to pull out their phones and play Photo Roulette . It is a great icebreaker and I learn something more personal than in a traditional setting .
◆ IDEAL LONG WEEKEND ?
Taking a food and wine tour somewhere new . Or zipping up to Breck for some R & R . www . aamdhq . org NOV / DEC 2022 TRENDS | 61
