The Independent Rental Owners Council ( IROC ) is the place for small owner / managers to meet , talk , and learn about the current trends that affect their operations and bottom line . The pandemic has brought a tsunami of changes in a short period of time . The use of technology in all phases of real estate property management advanced rapidly . New Federal and local resident support programs with brand new administrators , websites , and application requirements appeared . Evictions stopped then started up with all kinds of new rules and regulations that changed from month to month and lender to lender . Oh , and yes , we still had to deal with income and expenses , maintenance and repairs , and generally just run a business !

Despite the interruption in IROC forums because of pandemic closures , AAMD kept IROC meetings going . by adapting to Zoom before we could meet and then hybrid meetings as businesses were able to allow more in-person meetings . IROC continues to evolve like everything else from the effects of the pandemic .
IROC Chair Pat Klass , along with Amy Lassers , the Chair-elect , and Tyler Waugh of the AAMD and the IROC leadership team are all working to offer more inperson opportunities for our members . Topics covered so far have included “ Dealing with Difficult Residents ,” “ Succession Planning ,” and “ Budgeting and Planning .” Next year topics will include getting involved in testifying at the Capitol , management technology , and insurance . Sponsored annually by the CBRE broker group and monthly by suppliers who WANT to work with small owners , IROC is the place to get questions answered , have a bite and a drink , and talk about real estate .
