Southside Camp Quarter Horse 2015

The Southside Western Performance Club hosted the 2015
Camp Quarter Horse at Bellara Park Indoor arena at Veresdale,
Queensland.
The camp started on the Thursday 1st of October with a
welcome lunch and all the Youth receiving their welcome
pack full of goodies. All the participants received a Camp Cap
sponsored by Marsden Trophies. The clinic kicked off with the
three clinicians Steve Thake, Leanne Bartlett and Doug Farmer
teaching the kids about Showmanship at Halter. Next class was
Trail Class with many of the horses and ponies doing really well
considering they had never done it before, Some of the ponies
were so cute trotting over poles or negotiating the bridge.
After dinner we were lucky enough for Adam from Hygain to
give the kids a talk on feed and nutrition, with question and
answer time and chocolate frogs for those who guessed the
correct answers to the questions.
Also Tuff Rock representative, Tania Simpson, visited the camp
with a raffle. Anyone asking her about Tuff Rock or buying
some products off her went into the draw for the gift pack of
Tuff Rock products.
The second day saw all the Youth excited to get started, so after
breakfast, it was time for Western Pleasure and Horsemanship
followed by lunch then an English afternoon with Hunter Under
Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation. The improvement in both
horse and rider was very evident by the afternoon.
So now it was time to wash and band for the Youth Show
the following day. After a great BBQ dinner, it was time for
Karaoke. There is nothing cuter then two four year old girls
singing the song from the movie Frozen and Katy Perrys
Roar. The New Caledonian Team sang us a song in French and
everyone had a great time. Some of the parents were even seen
doing the Macarena and dancing.
