PDA Racks Up IABC Honors
PDA continued our award-winning tradition , receiving three honors from the International Association of Business Communicators ( IABC ) Harrisburg Chapter in its 2010 Capital Awards competition .
Our National Children ’ s Dental Health Month ( NCDHM ) program earned another IABC Capital Gold Award , marking the second consecutive year NCDHM has won a Gold in this competition and the sixth time in the last eight years it has been honored by IABC .
In addition to that Gold , PDA won a pair of Silver Awards as well . The Kids ’ Corner and Teachers ’ Corner sections of our website , new features in 2010 , won a Silver Capital Award in IABC ’ s website category . Also , in the Marketing / Communications Campaigns division , PDA ’ s Prospective and New Member Guide Campaign was honored with a Silver Award .
Gamba Joins ADA Speaker Corps
Former PDA president Dr . Thomas W . Gamba has been selected to join the ADA Speaker Corps . Dr . Gamba will present the ADA Success Dental Student Programs , which offer programming for students on-site at dental schools during every year of their education to help them prepare for careers in dental practice . The topics usually differ from those addressed in dental school , and include practice management , leadership , postdoctoral training , specialty opportunities , technology , associateships , ethics , purchasing a practice , personnel / staffing , office communications , marketing strategies and financial management . Dr . Gamba currently serves on the ADA Council on Ethics , Bylaws and Judicial Affairs .

Galeone Honored by ICD
The International College of Dentists honored Pennsylvania Dental Journal Editor Emeritus Dr . Richard J . Galeone at the group ’ s annual journalism awards in Orlando . The award for 2010 Outstanding ICD Newsletter went to Dr . Galeone for his work as editor of The College Call , the publication of ICD ’ s District Three , Pennsylvania .
Former PDA president Dr . Linda Himmelberger accepted ICD Journalism Award on behalf of Dr . Richard Galeone .
