We crowned a club champion and held community performance
September was a special and fun month for the Niners.

A highlight as in past years was the Niners’ Annual Community Performance. This year was one of the best or so those that attended shared with the cast and crew. As in any production many things need to happen to put it on. From the creativity to the time commitment to the flexibility, those associated with the show stood up to all the challenges. They always find a path to get the job done. One of the ladies resorted to having her husband sit in a chair in their kitchen, put on a wig she purchased and proceeded to shape and style the wig for her to wear. Imagine what I could have done with a picture of that in my article.
Mishaps are always a part of the program and this year was no different. A prop table fell off the stage during a skit, one of the gals, Karen, went on stage without her hula hoop, so early into the song it was noticed behind the curtain, and it whirled through the air to Karen, as though it was part of the plan and never missed a beat. Then there is always one of us that is standing behind the curtain, waiting to go on and just as the introduction is ending and realizes something is missing. This year it
was leg warmers, which were a key part of this skit. This necessitated racing back to the dressing room putting them on with the utmost haste, and back to the curtain just as the narrator is coming off stage. Whew, it was not an easy feat for this old lady. All in all, it is always worth every moment, because our audiences are so appreciative and reward us with their enjoyment and laughter.
Also in September is the Annual Tournament, which determines our club champion. This is followed by an Awards Scramble and Luncheon at the end of the month. Congratulations to new Niner Mary McElrath, who took home the trophy. Other winners were in the 1st Flight, gross, Brenda Gardiner and Ellen Newbore, who tied, and 1st Flight, net, Linda Shields. Winners of the 2nd Flight, gross, were Julie Robertson and net, Sylvia Morrison. Then in the 3rd Flight, the gross winner was another new member, Karen Santell, and the winners of th 3rd Flight net were Gay Salo and Judy Cutright. Kudos to all who played in the tournament.
By the time this article is printed our season will have reached the end. However, that does not mean the Niners will be on hiatus. Some Niners will put their clubs in storage while others will continue to play even if there is a chill in the air or drizzle coming down. Other activities in the planning stage are our December Holiday Happy Hour and then in January, February and March other events will take place. Be sure to look for emails to come with more details.
Finally, it is important to renew your membership by Dec. 31. Applications are in the Proshop or online at ladiesninersgolf. com.
